By participating in interactive projects, you can contribute to research that will directly help scientists at NASA, NOAA, and the other organizations expand our understanding of our planet (and beyond!).

Monarch butterflies are facing serious challenges, and we can make a difference! Create your own wind-up butterfly while learning about the crucial steps we can take to support and protect these magnificent insects. Make (and plant!) seed balls with native milkweed seeds to help restore their habitat to ensure these beautiful butterflies are around for generations to come.

Chuckle, hoot, and howl over atmospheric sounds
Connect to joy and mindfulness through laughter meditation with celestial multi-instrumentalist Laraaji. Laraaji will lead a “laughter meditation” filled with atmospheric sounds to ground and center. The meditation will be followed by a blissed-out session of celestial music designed to connect us to each other and our planet.

Join a community climate walk towards healing & liberation
Get your steps in and be a part of a health revolution! Join GirlTREK for a one-mile community walk, culminating on the High Line in the heart of the CSF Lab. Walk toward healing and liberation for Black women — and make some friends along the way. Walk begins at 8:30am in front of the Chelsea-Elliott Houses at 441 W 26th St btw 9th / 10th Ave and walks to the High Line.

Discover the magic of silk screen printing at an interactive demonstration by Poster House! Using upcycled fans from the Poster House Block Party, they’ll create beautiful art objects, share super satisfying process tips, and let you practice your screening skills.

Get Your Weave On!
Transform everyday fabric scraps into something extraordinary! In just 15 minutes, you will craft your own hand-woven coaster using a simple 4” x 4” cardboard loom. Discover how to repurpose old t-shirts and fabric remnants that would otherwise end up in the trash, giving them a brand-new life. This hands-on activity is a great way to reduce waste while exploring the art of circular design. Join artist Sarah Nsikak to learn how small actions can make a significant impact—one coaster at a time!

COMMONWEALTH FUSION SYSTEMS WORKSHOP
Build a model tokamak out of everyday materials
Join Commonwealth Fusion Systems for fusion-filled fun! Fusion energy powers the sun and the stars, and CFS is making it here on earth. With a team of 800+ stars of their own, CFS is building a fusion power machine, called a tokamak, that will provide clean, zero carbon, abundant energy. Learn all about the science and the advanced technology behind their fusion device, while working together in small groups to build a model tokamak out of everyday materials. One lucky member of each group will take this tokamak home- as a glowing reminder of the future of fusion power that lies ahead!

Slow Looking and Sketching: From Nature
Students aged 5 and up can examine natural objects like branches, leaves, blossoms, and fruit closely. They'll also have the chance to sketch these forms using professional drawing tools.

Hands-on climate learning
Join Teach For All network teachers to learn how climate education shows up across the school curriculum. Together, we will learn how to apply a climate action lens to our world and school learning. For this, you will be able to pick among four climate education workshop tables to engage in hands-on climate learning in a specific subject area. You will leave the workshop with a tangible output and, hopefully, new inspiration of how to apply your knowledge and ideas to climate action.

NY SUN WORKS WORKSHOP
Build a hydroponic system
NY Sun Works is a nonprofit that is transforming learning through building state-of-the-art Hydroponic Classrooms to teach the science of sustainability and climate change to our future generations. This program will feature a presentation that will guide students through the basics of hydroponics along with its benefits and connection to climate change. Afterwards, students will participate in a hands-on activity to construct their own passive hydroponic system using simple materials to take home a basil or lettuce seedling. Students will get a first hand look at the relative ease of the hydroponic growing process, as well as share in the joys of caring for a living thing of their very own.
