Zap Energy
Zap Energy is developing a low-cost, compact, scalable fusion energy technology. Based on a unique physics approach called the sheared-flow-stabilized Z pinch, Zap’s technology confines and compresses plasma without superconducting magnets or powerful lasers, removing many of fusion’s biggest obstacles. (Fusion is the opposite of fission, which splits atoms apart and leaves radioactive waste that lasts generations.)

Why this matters
When realized, fusion energy will be a transformative source of carbon-free energy and Zap Energy is developing a fusion energy technology with potentially the lowest cost and shortest path to commercially viable fusion.
